The Comfy Cozy Place

I was thinking this morning at 4am when I had to go to the bathroom how comfortable I was. I realized we all have these moments where you’re so utterly cozy, and in the perfect position, it’s a toss up between sleep and having to go. I think I sat there motionless for an extra 20 minutes before I REALLY had to get up to pee. Right before I left my warm and comfortable place, I did my best to try and memorize my exact position- how my head was nestled in the pillow, how my arm was cushioned between my legs, how my back was slightly bent towards the center of my bed, and the distance between the edge of the mattress and the center of my back. I thought I had it perfect.

I got up in the cold winter air (it’s cold on the bedroom side of the house) and made way to the bathroom.

When I returned, I found the warm spot my body had laid in. I contorted myself in the pre-memorized position, but something wasn’t right. It didn’t have that same feeling. I swore to myself I had done it just right, but I was restless. I flipped to my back and looked towards the ceiling. What happened????

Maybe it was the cold on my previously warm torso, the loosening up of my shoulder as I swung my arm, threw me out of balance, my neck as it snapped back into a tense ball of nerves- it couldn’t be the same. I flipped towards the edge then did my normal 360 degree rotations for the next 30 minutes. I’m not sure when I actually got back to sleep, but it was with a high degree of frustration I returned to bliss.

I thought this morning, in times like this, I wish I’d had this magical ability to pee EXACTLY where I laid and stay miraculously dry and clean. Can someone create a machine for such a purpose? With that in mind, I turn to a song by the Beatles- I’m only sleeping.

Creative & Inventive Genius-Nikola Tesla

At the beginning of the 20th Century one of the greatest inventors, Nikola Tesla, was making a name for himself in the field of electricity. A rival of Thomas Edison, this man’s first company which was financed by a group of investors enabled him to open Tesla Electric Light Company in 1887. The building itself was opened in Rahway, NJ, where our favorite rehearsal studio is located- Hellhound studios. Perhaps the energy is from the past. Perhaps it’s the energy for the future. All good things prosper from facts based in the past, and like a recording which has been erased, lends itself to the foundation for a strong movement. Creativity is the electricity which produces joy. Electrical energy abound….
